In December, 2010 I was named the new Executive Director of the Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House. I come to you as a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and a Jesuit Priest since 1973 when I was ordained by the saintly Joseph Cardinal Bernardin. I have spent 17 years working in Alaska and since 2005 I have been Secretary for Pastoral Ministry and Jesuit Life at the Jesuit Conference in Washington, DC. My professional background was that I was trained as a professional pastoral psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of depression. For the last ten years or so I was focused much more on spirituality, especially when I was Executive Director of the Holy Spirit Center in Anchorage, Alaska. I am very excited now to return to the Chicago area after an absence of 18 years, and especially to the ministry of Ignatian Spirituality at the Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House.
Our life today is filled with cell phones, text messages, and media bombardment along with many work and family commitments. I invite you to Come to the Quiet at the Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House and experience God working in your deepest desires to give you hope, healing, and new energy to return to your regular life in a graced way.
“Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Fr. Paul B. Macke, S.J., Executive Director
