Spiritual Director
Kay Metres initially learned to be a spiritual director in the 80’s at The Institute for Spiritual Companionship. After finishing a pastoral studies degree at Loyola, she worked as a chaplain at Lutheran General Hospital. In 1995 she finished a doctorate in clinical psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and has been a licensed therapist since then. Most recently, Kay completed an updated and expanded internship in spiritual direction here at Bellarmine. In 2017 Kay published a memoir about her experience with breast cancer: “After the Fear Come the Gifts.” She and her husband Phil have 2 sons and a daughter and 4 delightful granddaughters.
