Silent Retreats

"Silence allows a connection to God beyond what words can express."

What are the benefits of a Silent Retreat at Bellarmine?

Our silent retreats help you to step away and disconnect from the worries of everyday life. Without interruptions, you have the space to reflect and refocus. Often our retreats help people by:

  • Restoring and renewing their energy

  • Reducing stress and providing time to process life events

  • Deepening self-awareness and discovering new insights

  • Developing or re-engaging their prayer life in new ways

  • Improving their relationship with God, Jesus, and/or the Holy Spirit

Our retreats are based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, which have helped people for almost 500 years to let go of pre-occupations, to discover the deepest desires that God speaks to their souls, and to open up new possibilities in their lives.

All components of our retreats are optional. You do not need to attend any talks, small group sessions, prayer services, etc. It’s your time to relax and disconnect. However, we ask all retreatants to respect the quiet so everyone can enjoy our sacred space in silence.

We invite you to embrace a weekend to experience the quiet and find the peace that can help you relax, rejuvenate, and return renewed with deeper meaning and focus.

If none of these retreats work for you or seem like the right fit for you, we offer other retreats, as well. Our full retreat schedule can be found here.

Summary

Greet the summer season, tend your spirit and welcome God's love. On this overnight, interfaith retreat we will explore different ways to pray including:

  • Meditation, with the loving-kindness prayer
  • Embodied prayer, with gentle Tai Chi movements,
  • Lectio Divina, an ancient Christian practice of Scripture reading
  • Sacred writing, allowing your feelings to flow and be expressed

You will have time to breathe in the beauty of creation as we nurture our deepest selves. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday afternoon and the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available.

Come as you are, to rest in nature’s beauty. Bring a sister, daughter, mother or friends and nurture your soul alongside the women you love.
