Jesus promised, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” On this sacred day of reflection, we gather to rest in the assurance of His constant presence. Saint John Paul II exhorted artists “passionately dedicated to the search for new ‘epiphanies’ of beauty” to offer their creative works “as gifts to the world.” As writers, artists, or thoughtful people who feel called to the crafting of language, how can we best receive God’s world, in all of its grit and glory, and offer it back as gift through our works? Poets, novelists, saints, and other writers have grappled with this question over the years; we will explore some of their reflections, while also taking intentional time for prayer, worship, meditation, and personal writing.

As we watch how our Higher Power manifests in creation, we witness that Life is the Teacher. As our lives unfold before us, sometimes we wonder “why is this happening to me?” A better question might be “what is this person, situation, or circumstance trying to show or teach me?” How do we learn to interpret the happenings in our day with the intention to “read our spiritual mail?” We need to see it and feel it, rather than push the lesson away, because the lesson holds the answer for change. This weekend will focus on embracing that shift in perception, to realize that it’s all a gift, if we’re willing to be students.

In these moments of uncertainty, we are invited to pause, reflect, and seek where God is leading us. Come with an open heart, ready to listen to the stirrings of the Spirit. This retreat invites you to walk through the sacred thresholds of Scripture: doors of encounter, freedom, suffering, and new life. Each “door” is a spiritual opening, a place where God meets us and draws us into deeper trust and love. Grounded in the Ignatian Examen, one of the key movements of the Spiritual Exercises, every session leads toward the door Christ still knocks on today: the human heart. Along the way, we cross Scripture’s most powerful entry points: the Threshold of Creation, the Ark, the Passover Doorposts, the Temple, the Manger, the Shepherd’s Gate, the Upper Room, the Tomb’s opening, and finally, the threshold into Christ’s own heart.

Although they lived in quite separate times and circumstances, Paul of Tarsus and Ignatius of Loyola share a common and dramatic experience of conversion to Christ. The experience shaped Paul’s theology as expressed in his various letters to the Christian and largely Gentile communities. And Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises, as well, are shaped by his experience of Christ calling him to be his companion. In this retreat, we will explore some connections between a selection of Paul’s letters and Ignatius’ Exercises to show how they mutually enrich one another and invite us, in Paul’s words, “to put on Christ.”

An Ignatian, Semi-Slient Extended Weekend Retreat for Adults
Saint John Paul II exhorted artists “passionately dedicated to the search for new ‘epiphanies’ of beauty” to offer their creative works “as gifts to the world.” As writers, artists, or thoughtful people who feel called to the crafting of language, how can we best receive God’s world, in all of its grit and glory, and offer it back as gift through our works? Poets, novelists, saints, and other writers have grappled with this question over the years; we will explore some of their reflections, while also taking intentional time for prayer, worship, meditation, and personal writing.

Journey with Fr. Nick through a retreat exploration into the theme of friendship with Jesus. This weekend will provide an opportunity to reflect upon the joys and challenges within friendships while discerning how to root these experiences through the context of Christ’s life by examining his relationships with the apostles and the people whom he encountered in the gospels. This retreat will include applied personal reflections from Fr. Nick while drawing upon examples from scripture and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola as prayerful invitations to deepen one’s friendship with Jesus.

The reality of change is the only constant in our human experience. Our fall retreat will invite us to trust this is not something to fear but rather to embrace. Drawing from our Christian tradition and Buddhist spiritual practices, we will discover that change is the portal through which we step toward deepening our experience and trust in the love and mercy of God. Our time together will include teaching, guided meditations and small group sharing.

Each Holy Week the liturgies of the Church retrace the path of Jesus' passion, death, and resurrection. As disciples of Christ, we are called to follow that same path in our lives. Through scripture, Ignatian contemplation, the liturgies of Holy Thursday and Good Friday, and quiet time for reflection, this retreat invites you to experience the depth of Christ’s love and the promise of new life.

This retreat explores how Ignatian spirituality—rooted in discernment, interior freedom, and an understanding of one’s unique role in the work of justice and love—is not only necessary and relevant in today’s world, but also invitational to those who are religiously unaffiliated, spiritual but not religious, seeking, or otherwise not part of a particular spiritual home. Participants will engage in prayer/reflection and conversation as they integrate the gifts of the Ignatian tradition into their lives with depth while honoring their own spiritual identity.
Bellarmine does not have a specific weekend retreat for Married Couples during the current retreat season. However, we invite you to come on one of our co-ed retreats. These retreats are listed on our All Adults tab above.
A Silent, Recovery Weekend for Men

As we watch how our Higher Power manifests in creation, we witness that Life is the Teacher. As our lives unfold before us, sometimes we wonder “why is this happening to me?” A better question might be “what is this person, situation, or circumstance trying to show or teach me?” How do we learn to interpret the happenings in our day with the intention to “read our spiritual mail?” We need to see it and feel it, rather than push the lesson away, because the lesson holds the answer for change. This weekend will focus on embracing that shift in perception, to realize that it’s all a gift, if we’re willing to be students.

The twelve steps provide us tools not merely for getting sober, but for living our fullest lives. They provide a systematic way to build a rich and rewarding relationship with a Higher Power that can result in a life beyond our wildest imaginings. And they take us on an adventure from learning how to accept the things we cannot change to being grateful for all we are given.

Prior to recovery, we lead selfish, disconnected lives. By applying the spiritual principles to our attitudes and behaviors we will have the strength to change into a person we can be proud of. This weekend we will explore how our Higher Power walks with us on this journey of healing. Together, we will see how to repair relationships and recognize how perfectionism and shame have held us back from our desire to be trustworthy, honest and whole.

Come to this day to pray for yourself and for your loved ones. Fr. Michael will introduce us to variety of ways of praying for healing - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. For as many of the retreatants as time allows, there will be the opportunity for brief individual prayer with members of a prayer team. The day includes a “Healing Mass” and a closing Healing Prayer Service with Eucharistic Adoration.
A Day of Reflection for Adults
A Day of Reflection for Adults
Jesus promised, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” On this sacred day of reflection, we gather to rest in the assurance of His constant presence. Through Scripture, we will listen for the gentle whisper of His voice. In prayerful silence, we will open our hearts to the Spirit moving within. As we remember moments of grace in our lives, we will recognize the footprints of Christ walking beside us. And in faith-sharing with fellow pilgrims, we will glimpse the face of Jesus in one another.
Come away for a while and be renewed by the quiet beauty of the day—a time to encounter the living Christ who is already here, waiting to meet you in the stillness.

Each person’s retreat follows a unique path with Christ.
The retreat includes daily celebration of the Eucharist, daily one-on-one meetings with a spiritual director, and personal time to rest, pray, and reflect in the sacred spaces and beautiful grounds of Bellarmine.
Additionally, throughout the year certain days are set aside for Personal Retreat days or "Mini-Directed" retreats. Come spend a day (with or without overnight) or a few days of peace and quiet.
